Jasurbek Choriev Leaves Post of Uzbekistan Deputy Transport Minister

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Jasurbek Choriev has officially left his position as deputy minister of transport of Uzbekistan, according to an updated leadership section on the ministry’s website.

The current leadership of the Ministry of Transport lists Minister Ilhom Makhkamov, First Deputy Minister Mamambiy Omarov and Deputy Minister Ilhomjon Abdugafarov. The position of second deputy minister, previously held by Choriev, remains vacant.

In mid-May, at the 18th meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission in Astana, Choriev was elected secretary general of the organization as Uzbekistan’s candidate. After 21 May, his name stopped appearing in the Transport Ministry’s official channels, although he continued to be listed in the ministry’s leadership section.

TRACECA is an international cooperation program between the European Union and partner countries aimed at developing the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor. Organizationally, the program operates in the format of an intergovernmental commission.

The TRACECA secretary general serves as the chief executive of the organization’s permanent Secretariat. The secretary general is elected by the Intergovernmental Commission and is responsible for overall management of its activities.

Jasurbek Choriev was born in 1978 in the Denau district of Surkhandarya region. He studied at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the University of Colorado Boulder and the Tashkent State Aviation Institute.

Choriev began his career at the Chkalov Aviation Production Association. He later held senior positions at foreign airlines.

Choriev has worked at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport since 2019. Since August 2020, he had served as deputy minister, overseeing the aviation and railway sectors.
