Fraudster steals US$160,000 in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- A 40-year-old man received US$160,000 to help his acquaintance to buy a private house in Mirzo Ulugbek district, the Uzbek Interior Ministry said.

But, not fulfilling his promise, he began to hide, and spent the money for his needs. As a result of the measures taken, the man was detained.

On this fact, a criminal case under part 4 of Article 168 (“Fraud”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan was initiated, an investigation is underway.
