Amanmuradova reaches second round of Australian Open

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan’s Akgul Amanmuradova also reached the second round of the Women’s Draw of the Australian Open on Tuesday, 20 January 2008.

Amanmuradova defeated Melanie Ooudin of the USA in straight sets 6/1 and 6/4 to book her place in the second round.

Uzbek player now will face Spain’s Maria Jose Martinez Sanchz, who beat Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand (7/5 and 6/3).

As earlier reported, Denis Istomin also moved to the second round of the Men’s Draw of the Australian Open.
