Uzbek president meets Egyptian president, premier

Uzbek President Islam Karimov, who is on an official visit in Egypt, has met his Egyptian counterpart Muhammad Husni Mubarak and Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif, Uzbek TV reported on 18 April.  

A correspondent’s dispatch from Egypt said that President Husni Mubarak had received the Uzbek leader at his presidential palace. It said the one-two-one meeting between the presidents and then talks in extended session had confirmed the two countries’ wish to expand cooperation.  

The report also said President Islam Karimov attended a ceremony of singing some bilateral documents after his talks with Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif. The report did not specify the signed documents.
