Uzbekistan Welcomes 9.1 Million Tourists in Eight Months
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan welcomed 9.1 million foreign tourists in January-August 2026, up 21.1% from the same period in 2025, the Tourism Committee said.
In the first seven months of the year, 7.7 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan. This means an additional 1.4 million tourists arrived in August.
The strongest growth was recorded in several key international markets. The number of tourist trips by Chinese citizens increased 2.3 times year-on-year, while arrivals from Malaysia doubled. Tourist trips from Japan increased 1.5 times, the United States 1.4 times and Russia 1.3 times.
Tourist flows from European countries also continued to grow. The number of visitors from Germany increased by 25%. Uzbekistan received 21% more tourists from both France and the United Kingdom. The number of tourists from Türkiye rose by 15%.
At the same time, export revenues from tourism services increased. The figure reached US$4.6 billion during the reporting period, 53.5% higher than in January-August 2025.
Thus, the increase in the number of foreign visitors was accompanied by a substantially larger rise in tourism services exports.
