Uzbekistan to produce 23,700 tonnes of silk cocoon in 2009

Uzbekistan plans to produce 23,700 tonnes of silk cocoon in 2009, which is 2,000 tonnes more compared to 2008.
The country plans to create mulberry-tree plantations at 5,700 hectares in 2009 to strengthen forage reserve. Currently, 2,066 hectares of mulberry-tree plantations were created.
Uzbekistan manufactured 23,500 tonnes of silk cocoons in 2008.
