Uzbekistan to produce 23,700 tonnes of silk cocoon in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to produce 23,700 tonnes of silk cocoon in 2009, which is 2,000 tonnes more compared to 2008.

The country plans to create mulberry-tree plantations at 5,700 hectares in 2009 to strengthen forage reserve. Currently, 2,066 hectares of mulberry-tree plantations were created.

Uzbekistan manufactured 23,500 tonnes of silk cocoons in 2008.
