Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with representatives of international rating agency S&P Global Ratings on 29 September.
The sides discussed current economic trends, ongoing reforms and priority tasks for the future, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance said.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on measures to strengthen the sustainability of the country’s economic growth, achieve the established gross domestic product growth targets and ensure long-term economic prospects.
Particular attention was paid to reducing inflation and establishing a sustainably low level of inflation.
The sides also reviewed reforms in fiscal management and the development of fiscal strategy.
In particular, the discussions focused on effective management of public finances, strengthening fiscal sustainability and improving the efficiency of public resource use.
Another area of the meeting was the transformation of state-owned enterprises and banks. The participants discussed improving their efficiency and continuing privatization processes.
The sides also exchanged views on the development of the private sector and expanding its role in Uzbekistan’s economy.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue mutually beneficial cooperation and expand the exchange of views on the issues discussed.
