Uzbekistan, NDB Agree on Joint Project Portfolio

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank, who arrived in Tashkent to take part in events of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

During the talks, the parties discussed the further expansion of cooperation with the international financial institution, primarily in the context of implementing agreements previously reached at the highest level.

Dilma Rousseff praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to support priority areas of the country's socio-economic development.

It was noted that Uzbekistan has joined the ranks of member states of the New Development Bank. Under the agreements reached, it was agreed to form a medium-term portfolio of joint projects covering energy, water management, transport and engineering infrastructure, and support for the private and social sectors, with the involvement of expert missions from the Bank.

Particular attention was given to the New Development Bank's participation in implementing major transport and logistics projects of regional significance, as well as programmes for the country's ecological transformation.

In addition, the parties discussed plans to hold major New Development Bank events in Uzbekistan in the future.
