Uzbekistan joins the statute of the International Centre for the study of the preservation and restoration of cultural property

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has joined an important international document aimed at the preservation of cultural monuments.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law for Uzbekistan’s accession to the Statute of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), which was adopted on 29 November 2013, in Rome.

Founded in 1956 and based in Rome, ICCROM brings together about 140 countries and is a key international organization dedicated to the preservation of the world’s cultural heritage.

ICCROM assists in education, information dissemination, research, and international cooperation, as well as organizing public campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of monument protection.

As a consultative body of UNESCO, ICCROM is involved in assessing and developing recommendations for projects implemented at World Heritage Sites, thereby strengthening its role in international efforts to preserve cultural values.
