Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A criminal case has been opened in connection with the activities of Imarat Development LLC over suspected fraud and abuse of authority.

The investigation is being overseen by the head of the Tashkent Main Department of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office, the department’s press service reported.

The inquiry followed complaints from several citizens who said they had lost confidence in the company and called for legal action against its management.

The inspection found that the apartment buildings planned by Imarat Development are located in Kuyichirchik District of Tashkent Region, outside the capital.

Some citizens expressed dissatisfaction over the location and demanded that the company return the money they had paid for apartments. However, according to the Tashkent police, the funds had not been refunded.

The Investigative Department of the Tashkent Main Department of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case on suspicion of offences under Article 168 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code (fraud) and Article 192¹¹ (abuse of authority by officials of a non-state commercial or other non-state organisation).

The department said the investigation remains under the supervision of its leadership and the prosecutor’s office. A relevant procedural decision will be made following the investigation.
