Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Japan have agreed to continue close cooperation in the energy sector and advance mutually beneficial projects, Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry said.

On 10 September, Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev met with Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kenji Yamada.

The sides discussed further development of bilateral cooperation, with particular attention given to energy as one of the key areas of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed progress on major energy projects being implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of leading Japanese companies. The discussions covered electricity generation, the development of power transmission lines and the modernisation of the country’s gas transportation infrastructure.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue advancing mutually beneficial projects and steadily develop close cooperation in the energy sector.
