Uzbekistan Fans Organize Massive March in Houston
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A large-scale rally was held in the American city of Houston in support of the Uzbekistan national football team, which is participating in the final stage of the world championship for the first time in its history this year.
More than 4,000 compatriots who arrived in the state of Texas from various regions of the United States and other countries took part in the mass event. The column of fans, with national flags unfurled, paraded through the city streets toward the stadium, creating a colorful, festive atmosphere and attracting heightened attention from local residents, foreign tourists, and representatives of leading international media.
The march was organized as part of a comprehensive state program by the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, aimed at popularizing the historical, cultural, and tourism potential of the republic on the sidelines of the planet's largest football tournament.
The projects to promote the national brand initially kicked off in the capital of Mexico, where the first official Uzbek fan zone and a specialized tourism stand were opened for championship guests. In Houston, the campaign continued with a series of cultural and gastronomic presentations, and the next city where this program will be presented on 27 June 2026 will be Atlanta, USA.
Thus, the key megacities hosting the World Cup matches are transforming into platforms for introducing a global audience to the heritage of Uzbekistan. Throughout the tournament, foreign guests have the opportunity to taste traditional Uzbek cuisine, get a closer look at ancient customs, and familiarize themselves with unique products of folk crafts.
This interactive format allows the international sporting celebration to be used effectively as a tool to present the country to millions of football fans as an attractive new travel destination. Additional interest from global media outlets and tournament participants contributes significantly to strengthening the visibility of Uzbekistan's tourism brand on the international stage.
