Uzbekistan and US Discuss Joint Labor Migration Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Director of the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan, Behzod Musaev, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick.
The two sides discussed the development of cooperation in the field of legal labor migration and the implementation of pilot projects for the employment of Uzbek citizens.
During the talks, the Uzbek side presented information on the improvement of its labor migration system in accordance with international standards, the diversification of foreign labor markets, the preparation of candidates for work abroad, and measures to protect the rights and legal interests of migrant workers.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of pilot projects for the employment of Uzbek citizens in the US agricultural sector, including the processing of necessary documentation.
The US Ambassador emphasized the importance of high-quality preparation for participants in legal labor migration programs. According to Henick, candidates must receive full information in advance regarding their place of work, working and living conditions, potential expenses, available support, and the terms of their return to Uzbekistan.
The US side also recommended paying close attention to the correct processing of documents in accordance with established requirements and conducting preliminary checks on the visa and migration histories of candidates.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to establish cooperation between the Migration Agency and the consular service of the US Embassy. This will involve organizing information exchanges and coordinating employer interviews and document submissions in advance.
Both parties confirmed their mutual interest in the gradual development of cooperation in the field of legal labor migration through these pilot projects.
