Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Discuss New Cooperation Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov on the sidelines of the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, during which the sides discussed further development of Uzbek–Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance.

At the beginning of the talks, the head of the Kazakh government conveyed greetings and best wishes from President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the President of Uzbekistan.

The sides reviewed current issues of bilateral cooperation and noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of contacts at various levels. It was emphasised that trade and economic ties between the two countries continue to strengthen, while mutual trade volumes are showing growth.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of joint cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy.

It was noted that work is being carried out based on a new bilateral “road map” adopted earlier to further expand practical cooperation.

The meeting also addressed preparations for upcoming joint events. The importance of the high-quality organisation of the Intergovernmental Commission meeting, as well as the first meeting of the Council of Heads of Regions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, scheduled for July in the city of Aktau, was highlighted.

The participants reaffirmed mutual interest in further strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across key areas of the bilateral agenda.
