Uzbek Foreign Ministry reviews implementation of presidential initiatives within OTS

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted a comprehensive review meeting dedicated to implementing the strategic initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), focusing specifically on education, science, and technological innovation.

The working session was organized in a hybrid format, gathering around 30 senior officials and representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations, the Academy of Sciences, the "Uzbekcosmos" Space Agency, and the State Museum of the Memory of the Victims of Repression. Executive administrators and rectors from domestic higher education institutions participating in the Turkic Universities Union (TURKUNIB) also took active part in the deliberations.

During the meeting, delegates evaluated the operational achievements recorded during Uzbekistan's current 2025–2026 presidency of TURKUNIB, which unites more than 100 leading universities across the Turkic world. The participants reviewed the status of the "Orhun" academic exchange program and mapped out steps to expand student and faculty mobility.

Attention was also directed toward the practical roll-out of dedicated educational grants allocated for youth from OTS member states at the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) in Tashkent. Additionally, the ministry reviewed the structural design of a joint research support program slated to be anchored at the newly established International University of Turkic States in Uzbekistan.

The working group placed particular emphasis on coordinating the logistics for a series of high-level OTS events scheduled to take place later this year.

Among the primary items on the agenda was the organization of the upcoming "Days of Turkic Science and Innovation," designed to incorporate joint scientific conferences, tech exhibitions, and youth startup forums. Furthermore, officials finalized preparatory schedules for the landmark international scientific conference titled "The Creative Heritage of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi in the Spiritual Life of the Turkic World," which is organized to commemorate the cultural impact of the two historic literary figures.
