Uzbek Anti-Corruption Agency Calls for Probe Into District Hokim

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Anti-Corruption Agency has called for an internal investigation into Shakhrisabz district hokim Samad Hasanov following social media reports alleging actions that contradict the code of ethics for public civil servants.

According to the agency, the reports claim that the hokim entered the home of local residents and behaved in a manner inconsistent with the standards established for public officials.

The agency stressed that officials at all levels are required to strictly observe public service ethics when interacting with citizens. It noted that violations of the right to privacy, the humiliation of citizens' honor and dignity, and unjustified administrative pressure are unacceptable and run counter to both legislation and ethical standards.

Within its authority to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing breaches of the code of ethics by public servants, the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan submitted a formal request to the Kashkadarya regional hokimiyat, calling for an internal investigation to be conducted in accordance with the law and for the incident to be given a legal assessment.
