Spain advances to World Cup Round of 16

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Spain national football team confidently advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Austria with a score of 3-0. The match took place in Inglewood, California.

Mikel Oyarzabal became the hero of the match by scoring a brace, finding the net in the 36th and 89th minutes of the game. Pedro Porro added another goal for Spain in the 66th minute.

Following the group stage, Spain claimed the top spot in Group H, while Austria advanced to the knockout stage from the second position in Group J.

In the Round of 16 match, the Spanish team will face the winner of the Portugal vs. Croatia matchup. The game is scheduled to take place on 6 July 2026 in Arlington, Texas.
