Sodiq Safoev, Steve Daines Discuss Uzbekistan-US Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoev met with US Senator Steve Daines, co-chair of the Senate’s Central Asia Caucus, to discuss further development of Uzbekistan-US relations.

The sides discussed strengthening the Uzbek-US strategic partnership, expanding interparliamentary ties and regional cooperation, the Senate of Uzbekistan said.

Daines praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the country’s sustainable development, stressing the importance of strengthening mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also covered ways to strengthen transport and economic connectivity in Central Asia, including the development of the Middle Corridor. The senator particularly highlighted Uzbekistan’s important role in strengthening regional cooperation.

Following the meeting, Daines stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between the US Senate and Central Asian countries and expressed readiness to further deepen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States.
