Shavkat Mirziyoyev Receives US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held an official meeting with the United States Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.

At the beginning of the talks, the head of the American agency conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the head of the Uzbek state from US President Donald Trump. The parties viewed this visit as an important continuation of the regular interstate dialogue.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed in detail the current agenda aimed at the further comprehensive strengthening of the Uzbek-US strategic partnership relations. The main emphasis in the discussion was placed on intensifying interaction in the trade, economic, and investment spheres. The qualitative revival of bilateral business contacts was noted with satisfaction, and a steady growth in the key indicators of mutual trade turnover and the volume of attracted capital into the real sector of the economy was recorded.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the practical results of the recent Tashkent International Investment Forum, on the sidelines of which a roundtable discussion involving American business leaders was successfully organized. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Jamieson Greer discussed the mechanisms for implementing the commercial agreements reached.

A separate point of the negotiations was the process of Uzbekistan's integration into the global economic system. The parties substantively discussed cooperation within the framework of the republic's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and confirmed the readiness of the American side to provide further technical and advisory support for these processes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of the effective and systematic use of the potential of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Investment Council was emphasized for the prompt identification, coordination, and promotion of new promising project initiatives.
