Remittances to Uzbekistan Reach US$3.79 Billion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first quarter of 2026, the volume of money transfers to Uzbekistan continued steady growth, reaching US$3.79 billion.
According to the Central Bank, the figure increased by 13%, or US$433 million, compared to the same period in 2025, when remittances totaled US$3.36 billion. In 2024, the indicator stood at US$2.5 billion.
During the reporting period, the highest inflows were traditionally recorded in March. In January, the country received US$1.23 billion, in February US$1.23 billion, and in March US$1.33 billion. March therefore became the most active month of the quarter in terms of cross-border transfers.
It is also noted that in March 2026, remittance inflows increased by nearly 10% compared to March 2025, when they stood at US$1.22 billion, and by 38% compared to March 2024, when the figure was US$963 million.
At the same time, US$604 million was transferred from Uzbekistan abroad through international money transfer systems, which is US$39 million less than in the same period last year.
The Central Bank stated that in January–March, the growth in foreign currency supply on the domestic market was driven by export revenues, external borrowing by banks, and international money transfers. Additional contributions came from household foreign currency sales.
For reference, in 2025 total remittances to Uzbekistan reached US$18.9 billion, an increase of 27.2% compared to 2024.
The majority of inflows came from migrant workers in Europe and Asia, continuing to play a significant role in maintaining the country’s external currency balance.
