Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A prosecutor’s aide in Akkurgan district of Tashkent region was detained while receiving US$4,700, according to the investigation.
The aide allegedly demanded US$12,000 from a citizen in exchange for assistance in resolving issues related to the purchase and sale of a car and obtaining a preferential bank loan of 600 million soums.
The detention was carried out by officers of the State Security Service together with the Internal Security Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office as part of an operational measure.
According to preliminary information, the prosecutor’s aide used his official position to demand US$12,000 for assistance with the car purchase and sale issue and for help in obtaining the 600 million-soum preferential loan.
The suspect was detained with material evidence while receiving US$4,700, part of the agreed amount. A pre-investigation inquiry established that he had previously received US$1,300 from the citizen.
Measures are currently being taken to initiate criminal proceedings.
