Power outage briefly hits parts of Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A brief but widespread electricity outage occurred in parts of Tashkent on 4 June, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident was caused by a malfunction in a transformer at the Tashkent thermal power plant (TashGRES).
The outage affected several districts of the capital, including Mirabad, Yunusabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek, Shaykhantakhur, Yashnabad, and Almazar.
The Ministry of Energy said the fault was eliminated at 13:01, after which electricity supply began to be restored in stages. Full restoration was completed at 13:22.
According to residents, some areas also experienced temporary disruptions to hot water and, in some cases, cold water supply. Traffic congestion was also reported at several intersections due to non-functioning traffic lights.
