National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan Performs Handel's Tamerlano at Versailles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan performed on the historic stage of the Royal Opera at the Palace of Versailles in France, presenting a performance of George Frideric Handel’s opera "Tamerlano".

The performance was announced by Saida Mirziyoyeva, the Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan. She noted that following successful showcases in Dubai, Vienna, and St. Petersburg, the production was presented to the Paris public at one of Europe's most prestigious classical venues.

The musical accompaniment for the performance was provided by the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan under the leadership of conductor Alibek Kabdurakhmanov.

The original production was conceived by Italian director Stefano Poda, who blended the rich traditions of Baroque opera with contemporary artistic solutions. Handel's 1724 score was delivered in a fresh interpretation by composer Kirill Richter, who enhanced the Baroque music by integrating the distinct timbres of traditional Uzbek national musical instruments.

Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized that the performance once again demonstrated the significance of cultural diplomacy as a powerful tool for strengthening mutual understanding between nations.

The project offers a modern artistic reading of a historical narrative centered on the era of Amir Temur (Tamerlane). It successfully bridges European musical traditions with the national cultural heritage of Uzbekistan within the framework of an international cultural forum.
