Nagaoka University of Technology Opens Office at TSTU
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A representative office of Nagaoka University of Technology in Uzbekistan was opened at Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) on 7 August.
As part of the event, TSTU and the Japanese university also signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The event was attended by Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Kenji Hirata, JICA Uzbekistan Office Director Kan Sakai, Nagaoka University of Technology President Shigeharu Kamado, Vice President for International Strategy Yukio Miyashita and TSTU officials led by Rector and Academician Sadriddin Turabjanov.
At the conference hall of the Uzbek-Japanese Youth Innovation Center at TSTU, participants discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two universities. Particular attention was paid to academic exchanges for faculty and students, joint educational programmes, research, international grant projects and the development of innovation activities.
The meeting was followed by an official opening ceremony for the Nagaoka University of Technology representative office in Uzbekistan. Kenji Hirata, Kan Sakai, Shigeharu Kamado, Sadriddin Turabjanov and Saidmurod Niyozbekov cut the symbolic ribbon.
In line with Japanese tradition, the ceremony also included the painting of an eye on a Daruma doll.
The guests visited the Japan Career Academy operating at TSTU and met with students. Nagaoka University of Technology Vice President for International Strategy Yukio Miyashita and TSTU Vice-Rector for International Relations and Innovation Shavkat Azimov delivered presentations on academic mobility, joint research and promising areas of cooperation.
The opening of the representative office is expected to further develop cooperation between TSTU and Nagaoka University of Technology, facilitate joint educational and research projects, expand academic mobility and strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
