Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A road collapse on Glinka Street in Tashkent's Yakkasaray district is not connected to municipal gas distribution networks, utility operator Hududgaz Poytaht confirmed on 3 September 2026 following on-site inspections.

Specialists from Hududgaz Poytaht inspected the affected area and confirmed that no high-pressure gas mains run beneath the site, with testing ruling out any natural gas leaks.

The road surface damage occurred following a loud report, resulting in a sinkhole on the roadway and prompting local authorities to temporarily restrict traffic. Tashkent City Khokimiyat has placed the emergency recovery operations under heightened oversight, with municipal crews dispatched to stabilize the site, assess structural damage, and restore the road surface.

Initial reports from eyewitnesses suggested a potential failure within the local heating grid. Heating operator Veolia Energy Tashkent deployed emergency response units alongside municipal services to investigate the incident, reporting that initial assessments revealed no active fluid or thermal leaks.

One individual sustained minor injuries during the incident and received immediate medical treatment. Municipal authorities and emergency services remain on site to determine the cause of the collapse, with further updates expected upon completion of technical evaluations.
