District Governor Injured in Car Crash in Jizzakh Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The governor of Zafarabad district in the Jizzakh region, G. Eshpulatov, and his minor son were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity following a traffic accident on 30 August 2026, the Zafarabad district administration announced.

The collision occurred at 07:45 at the 7th kilometer of highway 25V-037, which passes through the Nurafshon neighborhood area.

According to preliminary data, the driver of a MAZ truck, identified as B. M., made a left turn and entered the oncoming lane. The truck collided with the official vehicle driven by district governor G. Eshpulatov, which was traveling in the lane.

Both Eshpulatov and his minor son sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to the hospital. The truck driver, B. M., was not injured in the incident.

The district administration refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that the governor's minor son had been driving one of the vehicles involved.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which covers violations of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
