Construction Ministry Comments on Tashkent Excavation Collapse

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services has commented on the partial collapse of an excavation pit at a construction site in Tashkent.

The ministry said that after reports of the incident appeared on social media, officers of the Construction and Housing and Communal Services Control Inspectorate, together with specialists from relevant organisations, immediately travelled to the site.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at the construction site of a hotel in the Orzular mahalla of Tashkent's Almazar district. During excavation work, part of the pit collapsed as a result of the contractor's careless actions.

Work is currently under way at the site to eliminate the consequences of the incident.
