Yandex Maps Launches Location Sharing in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A new feature allowing users to share their location in real time has become available to Yandex Maps users in Uzbekistan.

The new tool is designed to make meetings with friends and family more convenient, while enhancing comfort and safety during city trips and travel.

The feature allows users to quickly find one another in crowded places, such as markets, festivals, shopping centers, airports, or unfamiliar areas of the city. It will also be useful during trips outside the city, including to the Charvak Reservoir, Chimgan, and Amirsoy.

The new service targets both residents and tourists. According to internal Yandex Maps data, foreign travelers used the service in Uzbekistan more than 4 million times during the summer of 2025.

The most active users were tourists from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye, who used the application to search for attractions, build routes, and navigate.

The company noted that the ability to share location significantly simplifies joint walks and travel. If group members split up, sending one's current location is enough for others to quickly route a path and meet without additional explanations.

Users can share their location in several ways: directly from the map by clicking on their location marker, or through the "Location" section in the app profile.

Once live sharing ends, location display automatically stops, and the marker disappears from the maps of users who were granted access.

The new feature is available to authorized users of the Yandex Maps mobile application on iOS and Android platforms.

Developers noted that the service will continue to develop tools for family use and introduce new features to help users stay connected and find each other more easily in daily life and during travel.
