Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting with a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, led by Vice President Chen Yulin. The sides discussed expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The talks were attended by Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sherzod Ibragimov and Adviser to the Chairman Jamil Maksudi.
The Chinese delegation included heads of major enterprises and organizations from Xinjiang operating in decorative industries, construction, aluminum production, cotton trading and agricultural technologies.
The participants discussed strengthening bilateral and interregional ties, as well as prospects for joint projects in textiles, construction materials, agriculture and livestock, healthcare and logistics.
Particular attention was given to the possible signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Xinjiang.
The document is expected to help expand business contacts, develop direct interaction between entrepreneurs and promote new joint projects.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation, at the invitation of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, will take part in the International Investment Forum in Nukus. Xinjiang representatives will also visit several major manufacturing enterprises in the region.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and fill it with new practical initiatives.
