Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia’s Tyumen Region increased by 52% in the first six months of 2026, Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor said.
According to the governor, Uzbekistan is one of the Tyumen Region’s key foreign economic partners.
Exports from the Tyumen Region to Uzbekistan are mainly made up of chemical industry products, polymer materials, and glass, paper, cardboard and wood products. In the opposite direction, the region receives food products, ferrous metals and rubber from Uzbekistan.
Economic ties between the two sides are supported by direct air services between Tyumen and Tashkent, as well as humanitarian cooperation. Uzbek students study at higher education institutions in the Tyumen Region and take part in the region’s national and cultural life.
The Tyumen Region authorities also plan to expand scientific and educational cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Moor said the region is considering involving Uzbek universities and research organizations in activities based at the regional Interuniversity Campus.
The proposed cooperation could include joint research projects, master’s degree programmes and dual-degree programmes.
