Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Competition Committee has begun reviewing the justification for planned price increases by some mobile operators following upcoming tariff changes and consumer complaints about service quality, the committee’s press service reported.
According to the committee, although operators have increased the amount of internet traffic included in their tariff plans, they do not always guarantee the required quality of connectivity. As a result, subscribers cannot fully use the data they have paid for, and unused allowances do not carry over to the following month.
Consumers have also questioned whether higher tariffs are justified by the increase in the amount of included internet traffic.
The committee intends to assess the rationale for the price changes. If operators are found to have violated competition principles or infringed consumer rights, inspections will be conducted in accordance with established procedures. Companies found to have committed violations will face measures предусмотренные by law.
The committee also recalled measures taken in 2025 and during the first nine months of 2026 to promote competition and protect subscribers’ interests.
In particular, Beeline discontinued the automatic transfer of subscribers to a daily tariff without prior notification when their account balances were insufficient to cover the monthly fee. Users were also given the option to manage these services themselves.
In addition, calls to more than 100 short numbers for government agencies’ hotlines, which Beeline had previously charged for, became free of charge.
Mobiuz removed technical restrictions on switching to certain tariff plans and ensured that customers received complete information about tariff conditions.
Ucell revised its public offer for mobile services to include provisions on liability for material and moral damage.
