Uzbekistan to Become Full Member of IEC from 2027

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has officially decided to grant the Republic of Uzbekistan full member status in the organization starting 1 January 2027. This was announced by the "Uzeltekhsanoat" Association.

In addition, international partners have officially confirmed an upcoming visit to Uzbekistan by the Secretary-General of the IEC, Philippe Metzger, which is scheduled for August of this year.

The republic's transition to the status of a full participant in this authoritative global structure will open up new strategic opportunities for the national economy. Uzbekistan will gain the right to directly participate in the formulation and modernization of international standards for electrotechnical goods, effectively promote the interests of domestic industrial enterprises, and vote on key issues of global standardization.

The main practical benefit of full membership will be Uzbekistan's comprehensive integration into internationally recognized conformity assessment systems, including IECEE, IECEx, IECQ, and IECRE. This step will ensure the unconditional global recognition of certificates and laboratory test results issued by domestic certification centers and testing laboratories.

In turn, this will fundamentally simplify and accelerate the procedures for introducing products of the Uzbek electrotechnical industry to foreign markets. This historic decision will serve as a powerful catalyst for boosting the export potential of local manufacturers, increase the overall competitiveness of Uzbek goods abroad, and create favorable conditions for attracting long-term foreign investments into the development of the high-tech industry.
