Uzbekistan Senate approves ICAO aviation protocols
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of Uzbekistan considered at its 19th plenary session a law ratifying protocols amending the Convention on International Civil Aviation, adopted in Montreal on 6 October 2016. Following the discussion, the document was approved by senators.
The amendments are aimed at expanding the representation of member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in its governing and expert bodies. They also provide for more balanced consideration of regional interests in decision-making and strengthen the organization’s institutional and expert capacity.
Senators noted that ratification of the protocols will allow Uzbekistan to fulfill its international obligations within ICAO and support institutional reforms being carried out within the organization.
The law also provides a basis for nominating representatives of Uzbekistan to ICAO governing bodies, representing regional interests and expanding the country’s participation in international civil aviation.
Following the discussion, the Senate approved the law.
