Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, has announced plans to develop a “Demographic Dividend 2050” strategy.

She made the announcement at an event focused on demographic resilience, held jointly with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The event was co-hosted by Uzbekistan and UNFPA.

According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, the country’s young population is Uzbekistan’s main asset. In her view, realizing the potential of the future demographic dividend requires investment now in the health, education and security of the population, with particular attention to children and women.

She stressed the need for a long-term and targeted approach to demographic policy.

To this end, Uzbekistan plans to engage in demographic forecasting and develop the “Demographic Dividend 2050” strategy.

“The future of the country is determined not only by the number of people, but above all by the opportunities they will have,” Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized.

UNFPA materials note that Uzbekistan’s working-age population is projected to grow from 23.9 million in 2024 to more than 33 million by 2050, creating potential for the country to benefit from a demographic dividend.
