Uzbekistan Moves Seat Belt Exemption Certificates Online

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Citizens of Uzbekistan with specific medical contraindications can now obtain an official permit to drive or ride in a car without using a seat belt in a digital format. This service has been officially integrated and launched on the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services.

Previously, the government of the republic approved a strict list of chronic and acute diseases for which the use of standard seat belts is physically impossible or contraindicated. The current Traffic Regulations allow drivers and passengers to travel unbelted solely if they possess a valid medical certificate confirming these diagnoses.

The process of obtaining the document has been fully digitized and automated. To register for the certificate, a citizen must first undergo a specialized medical examination at an authorized health and preventive care institution.

As soon as doctors enter the relevant medical conclusion into the unified electronic database of the Ministry of Health, the legitimate document is automatically generated in the user's personal account on the public services portal. The electronic service is provided completely free of charge, and the applicant is not required to collect or upload any additional paper documents.
