Uzbekistan, EBRD discuss capital market development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Agency of Perspective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to discuss the development of the country’s capital market.
The main focus of the talks was the review of specific provisions of the draft Law on the Capital Market, which has been prepared with expert support from the EBRD. In particular, the sides considered issues related to the regulation of derivative financial instruments and the circulation of bonds issued by international financial institutions in Uzbekistan.
The leadership of the Agency highly appreciated the contribution of EBRD specialists to the integration of international best practices into the legislative drafting process in the capital market sector.
The meeting also addressed prospects for further cooperation in developing the clearing, trading, and settlement infrastructure of the country’s capital market.
Following the discussions, both sides confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and continue joint work aimed at building a more developed, transparent, and competitive capital market in Uzbekistan.
