Uzbekistan Delegation Attends OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Session
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A parliamentary delegation from Uzbekistan participated in the 33rd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which took place in The Hague under the theme "International Law and Shared Principles: Foundations for Security and Co-operation in the OSCE Area."
The Uzbek delegation included Odiljon Mamatkarymov, the chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on Science, Education and Health.
During the session, representatives from more than 250 delegations from European, North American, and Central Asian countries discussed the development of parliamentary diplomacy, strengthening international security, supporting democratic institutions, and protecting human rights.
Participants heard reports and took part in discussions dedicated to improving international security mechanisms, preventing conflicts, strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring human rights, and developing parliamentary diplomacy. During the discussions, the importance of further cooperation in these areas was noted.
At the meetings concerning Central Asia and the Silk Road Group, the representatives of Uzbekistan presented information on the reforms implemented within the framework of the "New Uzbekistan" Development Strategy, the improvement of parliamentary activities, and transformations in the fields of education, healthcare, and social policy.
As part of the visit, the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan also held a number of bilateral meetings, including talks with the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Special Representative for Central Asia, and the head of the delegation of the Netherlands.
