Uzbekistan Banking Credit Portfolio Exceeds 636 Trillion Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The banking system of the Republic of Uzbekistan is demonstrating substantial volumes of funds allocation and attraction, with key indicators showing a high concentration of capital in the capital region.
According to official data from the Central Bank, as of 1 June 2026, the cumulative outstanding balance of loans allocated by domestic commercial banks reached 636 trillion soums. Simultaneously, the total outstanding balance of attracted deposits from legal entities and individuals was recorded at 460.6 trillion soums.
The internal structure of both the credit and deposit portfolios of the country's financial institutions relies predominantly on the corporate sector. In the segment of active banking operations, the main share of financing goes to legal entities, whose outstanding liabilities amounted to 403.1 trillion soums, while retail lending to individuals accounted for 232.9 trillion soums. A similar trend is observed in the liability base: organizations and enterprises hold 282.1 trillion soums in bank accounts, while the savings and deposits of citizens reached 178.5 trillion soums.
The geographical distribution of banking resources reflects a deep disproportion between the capital and other administrative units of the republic. The city of Tashkent acts as the absolute leader in terms of credit activity. The main economic entities and residents of the capital account for 292.3 trillion soums, which is equivalent to almost 46 percent of the total volume of loans issued in the country.
In the regional breakdown, relatively high lending indicators are also demonstrated by Ferghana Region with a result of 36.9 trillion soums, Samarkand Region with an outstanding balance of 32.8 trillion soums, Tashkent Region with 30.0 trillion soums, and Kashkadarya Region with 29.8 trillion soums.
An even more pronounced dominance of Tashkent is traced in savings accumulation statistics. Capital accounts and deposits represent 351.6 trillion soums, exceeding 76 percent of the total deposit base of the entire banking system of Uzbekistan.
Among the remaining territories, the leaders in terms of attracted funds are Samarkand Region, where 13.3 trillion soums are accumulated, Bukhara Region with 12.6 trillion soums, and Khorezm Region, where the outstanding balance of deposits amounted to 12.3 trillion soums.
