Uzbekistan Bank Deposits Surge 34% to 482 Trillion Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Deposits in the banking system of Uzbekistan reached 482.7 trillion soums as of 1 August 2026, marking a 34% increase of more than 122 trillion soums compared to the 360.4 trillion soums reported a year earlier, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
Deposits recorded the highest growth rate among the primary indicators of the banking system over the period. The maturity structure of deposits also shifted, with short-term time deposits placed for up to one year increasing from 120.5 trillion to 175.7 trillion soums, expanding their share of the total from 33% to 36%. Demand deposits grew from 106.8 trillion to 142 trillion soums, though their share slightly declined from 30% to 29%. Long-term deposits with maturities exceeding one year grew in volume from 133 trillion to 164.9 trillion soums, while their share fell from 37% to 34%.
Total assets of the banking system grew by 19% to reach 1,016.6 trillion soums, compared to 852.4 trillion soums recorded a year earlier. Bank lending to the economy increased by 12%, rising from 576.2 trillion to 644.6 trillion soums and representing an annual allocation growth of nearly 68.4 trillion soums. Total capital in the banking system expanded by 19%, rising from 127 trillion to 150.6 trillion soums.
According to the Central Bank, deposit growth continues to outpace the rate of credit expansion, broadening the domestic funding base for the country's banking system.
