Uzbekistan and Iraqi Kurdistan expand agricultural cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov held a meeting with a delegation of business community representatives from the Kurdistan Region of the Republic of Iraq. The parties discussed expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, developing long-term partnerships, and implementing joint projects.

The main attention during the talks was focused on developing trade in agricultural products, strengthening export-import ties, and expanding interaction between entrepreneurs of the two countries. The meeting participants also reviewed opportunities for more effective utilization of existing potential and increasing the volumes of mutual trade.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in fruit and vegetable growing, potato growing, livestock farming, the food industry, agricultural product processing, and scientific research. In addition, proposals were reviewed for implementing joint investment projects, introducing modern technologies, and developing cooperation between private sector representatives.

The meeting participants paid special attention to improving logistics chains and developing modern trade infrastructure. In their opinion, interaction in these areas will contribute to the further strengthening of trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov confirmed the readiness of Uzbekistan to further expand international cooperation in the agricultural sector and supported initiatives aimed at developing a mutually beneficial partnership.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work on developing bilateral cooperation, practically implementing joint projects, and intensifying interaction across various areas of the agro-industrial complex.
