Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) have signed a preliminary agreement to hold the 2028 International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2028) in Samarkand.
The document was signed in Antalya on the sidelines of the 77th International Astronautical Congress currently taking place in Türkiye. Uzcosmos Agency reported this.
The signing ceremony was attended by International Astronautical Federation President Gabriella Arrigo, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, Uzcosmos Agency Director Shukhrat Kadyrov and Aziz Mukhiddinov, director of the non-governmental organization Alliance of Artificial Intelligence.
The agreement formalizes the arrangement to hold IAC-2028 in Samarkand and marks a practical stage in preparations for organizing the congress.
As part of further work, the parties will continue preparations for the event, including ensuring the necessary conditions for international participants, developing the required infrastructure and preparing the congress programme.
Thus, the document signed in Antalya sets out the further work to prepare Samarkand to host the 2028 International Astronautical Congress.
