Uzbek, Singaporean Foreign Ministers Plan 30th Anniversary Events

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks in Singapore with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan.

The head of the Uzbek foreign ministry expressed deep gratitude to the Singaporean side for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the diplomats noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations between Tashkent and Singapore show a consistent and confident strengthening. Interaction between the states is built on a solid foundation of mutual respect, trust, and a deep commonality of strategic interests.

A significant portion of the negotiations was dedicated to trade, economic, and investment tracks. The sides discussed in detail specific prospects for expanding cooperation, stimulating direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, and systematically increasing the number of joint high-tech projects in the Uzbek market.

The foreign ministers placed special emphasis on maintaining and adding qualitative substance to the intensive dialogue at the highest level. In this context, the diplomats reviewed the schedule of upcoming visits at various levels and began forming a comprehensive program of events to celebrate the historical date of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Singapore, which will be observed in 2027.

In addition, Saidov and Balakrishnan exchanged views on the most pressing challenges of the regional and international agenda. The foreign minister of Uzbekistan emphasized Tashkent's firm interest in expanding the multi-format dialogue between Central and Southeast Asia, intensifying practical interaction with ASEAN, and deepening partnership ties within the framework of multilateral diplomacy institutions.
