Uzbek Banks Issue 115.9 Billion Soums in Student Loans in H1 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Commercial banks in Uzbekistan allocated preferential educational loans totaling 115.9 billion soums to 8,946 students during the first half of 2026, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Out of the total number of borrowers, 1,848 students received interest-bearing loans, while 7,098 obtained interest-free funding.
The largest portion of the allocated funds, totaling 89.4 billion soums or 77.1 percent of the overall volume, comprised interest-free loans provided to female students. Interest-bearing loans issued by banks accounted for 26.6 billion soums.
According to the ministry, Xalq Banki issued the largest volume of educational loans, distributing 42.4 billion soums to 3,386 students. Agrobank provided 21.4 billion soums to 1,726 students, and the Business Development Bank provided 14.9 billion soums to 1,296 students.
Uzpromstroybank issued 12.6 billion soums across 678 borrowers, NBU provided 10.1 billion soums to 862 borrowers, and Hamkorbank disbursed 6.1 billion soums to 385 borrowers. Asakabank, Aloqabank, Turonbank, Orient Finans Bank, and Microcreditbank allocated between 349 million and 3.4 billion soums each, collectively serving several hundred students.
