Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A court in Syrdarya Region has overturned a tax inspectorate decision imposing a soum 1.3 billion debt on S.G.F. LLC after a technical error in cadastral records led to continued land tax charges, the Business Ombudsman said.
The dispute arose after a court overturned a district governor’s decision to allocate an 11.2-hectare plot of land to the company in November 2023.
The land was returned to the reserve of Mirzaabad District, but information about the plot remained in the previous information system. As a result, land tax continued to be charged to the company.
Following a tax audit, the company was additionally assessed 645.3 million soums in land tax, a financial penalty of more than 129 million soums, and late-payment interest.
To protect the entrepreneur’s interests, the Business Ombudsman’s office appealed to the court. The Gulistan Interdistrict Administrative Court ruled that the tax inspectorate’s decision was invalid.
Following the ruling, the land plot was removed from the cadastral register, and all restrictions previously imposed on the company were lifted.
