The current World Cup is jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament, which concludes on 19 July 2026, is taking place for the first time in an expanded format featuring 48 national teams distributed across 12 groups. According to the competition regulations, places in the next round are guaranteed to the top two teams from each quartet, as well as the eight best third-placed teams from their respective groups. Argentina is defending its title as the reigning world champion at the tournament.
