Samarkand-2028 Satellite Sends First Image from Orbit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Samarkand-2028 satellite, launched on 5 August in cooperation with Chinese company STAR.VISION, has transmitted its first image of Earth from orbit. The image was received several hours after the launch, the press service of Uzbekistan’s space agency Uzbekkosmos said.
The image shows Athens, the capital of Greece.
The satellite was launched on 5 August from the Haiyang spaceport in China, located in the Yellow Sea. Uzbekkosmos’ official YouTube channel broadcast the launch live.
Samarkand-2028 carries an artificial intelligence module developed by Uzbekkosmos specialists.
The module is designed to process hyperspectral data directly in orbit.
