Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — SAFE Service has stated that information circulating on social media about an alleged leak of personal data belonging to users of popular services in Uzbekistan is not related to the SafeRoad application.
The company explained that the published information had been collected from various sources before the application was launched. SAFE Service also said that user data is processed and protected in accordance with applicable legislation.
In response to the circulation of information it considers inaccurate, SAFE Service is cooperating with the relevant government authorities.
Earlier, reports emerged online about a possible leak of databases associated with several services, including SafeRoad, inDrive, Lada Auto, KiwiTaxi and Fargo.
Digital technology expert Shukhrat Kurbanov said that he had found his own information while examining the published materials. The data included his personal identification number (PINFL), home address, vehicle details, state registration numbers and information from documents.
Some publications also claimed that the datasets contained information about purchases, order deliveries and medicine purchases at pharmacies dating back several years.
At the time of publication, the other companies named in the reports and the relevant government authorities had not issued public comments on the alleged leak. The available information does not independently confirm that a data breach occurred.
