Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldashev, during which the sides discussed the development of cooperation between the two countries’ prosecutorial authorities.

Alexander Gutsan noted the comprehensive nature of the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan, linking it to their shared history, mutual respect and similarities in approaches to ensuring the rule of law.

Particular attention was paid to joint law enforcement priorities. These include countering terrorism and extremism, corruption, illicit drug trafficking and crimes in the digital sphere.

“The trust-based format that has developed between us and our agencies allows us to openly discuss current issues and find practical solutions. This is consistent with the course set out in the Bishkek Declaration to deepen dialogue between prosecutor general’s offices while observing the principles of the rule of law and respecting national legal systems,” the Russian Prosecutor General said.

Alexander Gutsan said he was ready to continue cooperation in key areas of prosecutorial activity.

These include protecting citizens’ rights, asset recovery and the exchange of electronic evidence.

The Russian side also paid particular attention to the professional training of prosecutors.

The head of Russia’s prosecutorial authority invited his Uzbek counterparts to participate in educational programmes at the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of Russia, including training and professional development programmes for specialists.
