Uzbek athletes leave for London

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First part of the athletes of Uzbekistan left for London, Great Britain, on 24 July 2012 to participate at the 30th Summer Olympic Games.

Flag of Uzbekistan has been raised at the special ceremony at Olympic Village on 25 July 2012.

Uzbekistan will be represented by 54 athletes on 16 sports at the London Olympic Games.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution on 17 July 2012 on measures on remuneration of winners and participants of London Games.

In line with the document, the winner of gold medal will receive US$150,000. Silver medal winner will get US$75,000 and bronze medal winner – US$50,000.

In previous games in Beijing, Uzbekistan was represented by 58 athletes and won six medals – one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
