Uzbekistan increases cement output by 0.1% in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased cement production by 0.1% year-on-year in the first half of 2010, the State Statistics Committee of the country said.

The committee underlined that Uzbekistan produced about 3.455 million tonnes of cement in the reporting period.

Currently, Uzbekistan has six cement plants with total capacity of 6.5 million tonnes. Largest of them are Kyzylkumcement (3.08m tonnes), Ahangarancement (1.74 million tonnes) and Quvasoycement (920,00 tonnes).

Uzbekistan is planning to construct three more cement plants in Uzbekistan – in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh region and Surkhandarya region. Construction of the plant in Karakalpakstan is underway.
